Importing Clients
CurdBee supports importing clients from an existing database or application. Currently, data can be imported in the CSV or XML formats. While you can also import your Freshbooks and Blinksale clients using CurdBee Bridge, this guide covers importing clients manually. This includes Basecamp users who can export their clients information in XML format (see the end of this article).
First of all, you will need to prepare the clients list you wish to import in a CurdBee compatible format. Use the following links to download sample clients lists in CSV and XML formats:
Once you have prepared your clients list in one of the above formats, you can go ahead and import it into CurdBee.
To import your clients list, login to your CurdBee account and select the Clients menu item from the Manage menu. You will be taken to the following screen.

On the sidebar you will find a link called Import Clients.

Clicking on it will open up a box where you can select and upload the clients list file which you created earlier.

Once the file upload is complete, you will see a message saying your file has been queued for processing.

The processing and importing of data may take some time, based on factors like server load at the time. You will be notified via email when the importing process is completed. If there’s an error at any point during the process, you will receive a notification that will include information on how you can rectify the error.
That’s it! You’re now ready to use your imported clients for invoicing.
How can I export clients from Basecamp?
- Login to your 37Signals account
- Visit http://your-id.basecamphq.com/companies.xml
- At the authentication prompt, enter your Basecamp API token as the username and ‘X’ as the password.
(Your Basecamp API token can be found by logging into your Basecamp account, clicking on the My Info link in the upper right hand corner, and then clicking Show your tokens at the bottom under Authentication tokens). - Save the loaded XML file using your browser’s Web Page saving option, and upload it to CurdBee using the method shown above.
