Keeping track of your CurdBee Account via RSS

If you’re using a RSS reader, this tutorial will help you start tracking your CurdBee account via a feed. If you aren’t familiar with the technology, this Wikipedia article will help you understand it better.

To get going, follow these simple steps.

  1. Login to your CurdBee account. At the bottom of your screen, under the Account Overview table, you will see an icon like this next to a link titled Subscribe to Activities Feed. This is the RSS feed link for your account.
    Link for RSS Feed
  2. Right click it and copy the URL (Copy link location, in Mozilla Firefox). Now, go to your favourite feed reader and paste it in! It should look something like -
    http://yoursubdomain.curdbee.com/activities.atom?auth_key=wj–ncp-hubbfYmE4Cdl
    Note:
The auth_key hash at the end is your feed’s password, and you will not be able to access any data without it. Therefore, when copying the URL into your feed reader, make sure that you copy and paste everything!

Here are instructions for adding the feed URL you copied to two popular feed readers.

Mozilla Firefox built-in Feed Reader

Create a new tab and paste the feed URL you copied into the location bar. Hit enter, and you should be greeted with something that looks like this.
firefox_feed

As you can see, there is also an option to create a live bookmark, a Firefox feature that will load the feed’s contents directly on to your browser toolbar. See their live bookmarks support article for more information on how to use this feature.

Google Reader

Login to your Google Reader account.

Click on the Add a subscription button at the top left hand corner of the screen. Enter your feed URL in the box that pops up.

Google Reader will take a moment to process and load your feed, after which it will appear on screen. Now, you can read and follow it just like a regular RSS feed.
